Manufacturing Activity Advanced in October

Institute for Supply Management News Release (11/02/2020)

Economic activity in the manufacturing sector grew in October, according to the Institute for Supply Management. ISM’s purchasing managers index registered 59.3%, up from the September reading of 55.4% and the highest since September 2018 (59.3%). This figure indicates expansion in the overall economy for the sixth month in a row after a contraction in April, which ended a period of 131 consecutive months of growth. The employment index registered 53.2%, up from the September reading of 49.6%.
