Temp Jobs Provide Boost to Rising Employment Trends Index

The Conference Board’s Employment Trends Index rose in January for the ninth consecutive month with temporary employment leading the way.

“The Employment Trends Index has been increasing in recent months, with the largest contributing component being the number of jobs in the temporary help industry,” said Gad Levanon, head of The Conference Board Labor Markets Institute.

In January, the index stood at 99.27, up from December’s reading of 98.55. However, the level still remained down 10% year over year in January.
