Chief Executive (02/07/22) Mourgelas, Isabella

Chief executive officers expect Covid-19 to have a reduced impact on the overall economy by 2023, according to a survey of 457 U.S. CEOs by Chief Executive. CEO confidence in current business conditions was unchanged from January, at 6.7 out of 10 on a 10-point scale. Confidence in business conditions 12 months from now fell by less than 5% this month, down to 6.6 out of 10 from last month’s reading of 7. The measure dropped on uncertainty in the supply chain and labor market.

When it comes to labor, 72% of CEOs now forecast increases in hiring, up 5% since last month. This is the highest proportion on record of CEOs planning to add to their headcount over the next 12 months. The proportion of CEOs predicting increases in profits dropped 3% this month to 69%. Only 81% of CEOs forecast increases in revenues, down 8%.
