Jobless Claims at Lowest Level Since 1968

Staffing Industry Analysts (04/07/22)

US initial jobless claims fell last week to their lowest level since September 1968, according to seasonally adjusted data released by the US Department of Labor.

Initial jobless claims dropped by 5,000 to a level of 166,000 In the week ended April 2.

The previous week’s level was revised downward by 31,000.

Economists polled by Bloomberg had forecast 200,000 applications for the latest week.

Meanwhile, the four-week moving average of jobless claims fell by 8,000 to a level of 170,000.
