May 2024 Job Openings, Hires, and Separations

U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (07/02/24)

In May, job openings changed little at 8.1 million, with hires at 5.8 million and total separations at 5.4 million, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. The job openings rate was little changed at 4.9%. Notable changes included a decrease in openings in accommodation and food services and private educational services, while state and local government, durable goods manufacturing, and the federal government saw increases in job openings.
