BLS Reports Minimal Change in Job Openings, Hires, and Separations

In January 2025, the U.S. labor market remained stable, with job openings holding steady at 7.7 million and hires unchanged at 5.4 million, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Total separations were also largely unchanged at 5.3 million, including 3.3 million quits and 1.6 million layoffs and discharges. While job openings declined by 728,000 compared to the previous year, most labor market indicators showed little movement across establishment sizes.
