April Job Openings at 7.4 Million

The U.S. job market showed stability in April 2025, with job openings holding steady at 7.4 million (4.4% rate) and hiring little changed at 5.6 million (3.5% rate). Total separations also remained stable at 5.3 million, with quits unchanged at 3.2 million and layoffs steady at 1.8 million. Notably, the number of people voluntarily quitting their jobs has decreased by 220,000 compared to the same period last year, suggesting workers may be more cautious about changing positions.
