Turnover Costs Rise, but Hiring Remains Strong

Source: Amrita Ahuja, Staffing Industry Analysts (06/13/25)

Employee turnover concerns are rising among US hiring managers, with 39% expecting increased turnover in 2025 compared to 33% in 2024. Turnover costs companies an average of $36,723 annually, with larger firms facing costs of $100,000 or more, primarily due to rehiring expenses and lost productivity. Despite these concerns, 88% of hiring managers still plan to hire in 2025, with 43% citing the need to replace departing employees as a key driver. The main reasons companies anticipate turnover include better pay/benefits elsewhere, voluntary resignations, increased workplace demands, and more appealing company cultures at competitors.
