Another 4.35 Million Workers Quit—Most for Better Jobs

In February, approximately 4.35 million workers quit their jobs, with many leaving for better opportunities, underscoring the tightness of the labor market. This marks the ninth consecutive month where quits exceeded 4.0 million, a trend unseen before the pandemic when quits averaged under 3.0 million monthly. Despite a slight drop, job openings remained high at 11.27 million, with roughly two open positions for every unemployed person. Additionally, wages continue to rise at a rapid pace, reaching levels not seen in decades.
