U.S. Adds 256,000 Jobs in December 2024

The U.S. economy added 256,000 nonfarm payroll jobs in December, with gains in health care, government, and social assistance sectors, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Retail trade saw job growth after a decline in November. The unemployment rate remained steady at 4.1%, a level it has hovered around for the past seven months, with 6.9 million unemployed individuals.
